LES FILS DU SILENCE

Threads of Silence

From a family constellation came the answers my soul had been searching for all my life. I realised that what remains unhealed will return, that silence and unspoken wounds are carried like invisible threads across generations, weaving patterns passed down in blood and memory. In that ancestral mirror, I recognised my own voice, and the voices of all the women who came before me, women who were everything at once: mothers, carers, guardians of home and history, yet denied recognition of their strength, bearing the wounds of colonisation and of systems that silenced them. And still, they never stopped creating: with their hands they embroidered life, stitched memory, and turned pain into beauty and silence into resistance.

This collection honours them and brings their legacy into the present through my own designs that integrate embroideries from the community of Zinacantán, Chiapas, alongside pieces made by two women’s collectives ‘Manos del Mar’ in San Mateo del Mar, Oaxaca  whose art lives through ancestral garments such as the huipil and the traditional ‘rabona’ skirt and ‘Malacate’ collective in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, which gathers creations from different artisans across Mexico. Each piece carries the name of its author and part of the story behind its making. The sales of their creations go directly to the women who gave them life. This synergy builds a bridge between the ancestral and the contemporary, inviting us to embrace into our wardrobes garments that are both art and memory, recognising the true creators behind them. To wear these pieces is to let their story intertwine with ours  to allow the ancestral to speak with the contemporary, to let memory become art, and art become freedom. Each garment is an echo of them, of my grandmothers, and of myself. In this shared embroidery, silence becomes light, and the wound becomes healing.

I truly believe the future of fashion lies in collaboration, in replacing vertical hierarchies with horizontal networks where every story is seen and every hand acknowledged, and not in soulless reproduction, but in valuing each garment as a unique act of creation.

Threads of Silence celebrates that alchemy and is dedicated to women everywhere: a call to heal what has been carried through family lines, to release what was kept hidden. It is, above all, a collective project, where we join our talents so that Threads of Silence no longer remain unspoken, but rise together as a shared voice of memory, dignity and freedom.
